From an early age I have always been interested in how people operate. Psychology became a passion of mine as I grew up and it has continued to develop, fostering a deep care for mental health and finding success using therapy in my own personal healing journey. Evolving from my own interests, beliefs, and experiences, I have learned everyone is unique and deserves to feel heard. Healing and recovery can be a tough journey, but I believe that if an individual begins to process their experiences and feelings, they can find that their own strengths, coping skills, identity and confidence were within them all along. No matter what, there are times when we all need support, and that is okay!
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern Illinois University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies before beginning work at a domestic violence agency and volunteering at a sexual abuse center in Gurnee, Il. Followed by taking on a role as an outpatient therapist in a community mental health center where I worked with many individuals of diverse backgrounds, including adults, adolescents, and young children. Over the years, my focus has broadened to working with people managing issues related to ADHD, autism, chronic illness, and trauma. I have also worked with many individuals to manage struggles dealing with emotional regulation, time management, assertive communication, boundary setting, and building self-worth and compassion. I cherish the satisfying feeling when I see clients progress and become self-empowered, allowing them to make their own decisions and enrich their lives.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois and have found success with clients using a combination of Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I incorporate somatic and mindfulness-based techniques to help guide clients toward self-regulation, allowing them to become more aware of the connection between the mind and the body. I truly believe everyone’s path is unique and I strive to incorporate creative and expressive techniques for when words can’t fully express feelings. I strive to provide a safe, authentic and healing environment to foster trust and connection within the space we share. I believe it is important to be genuine and non-judgmental while allowing space for humor and thinking outside of the box. Working from a trauma-informed lens, I collaborate with my clients to develop a unique treatment plan for each individual, tailored to their needs specifically. Through the therapeutic process, I enjoy guiding my clients toward finding their own personal insights, helping them build self-compassion, and ultimately achieving their goals. In my personal life, I enjoy dancing, yoga, reading, listening to music, crafting, spending time with my partner, family, friends, and cute animals.
