Growing up in Japan, I was deeply influenced by the values of shiawase (happiness) and ikigai (a life worth living). These principles guide my approach to therapy as I work to help clients discover balance and meaning in life. I’m particularly committed to helping those struggling with chronic pain management, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, LGBTQIA+ health stressors, and performance anxiety. Consider me your ally on this therapeutic journey as we craft an empathetic and nonjudgmental space for holistic healing.
Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The Chicago School, with an academic background that includes studying global health policy abroad at the University of Helsinki and the University of Sydney. I earned my B.Sc. in Psychology from Capella University and gained valuable experience interning for the Society of Social and Personality Psychology, where I focused on health equity in the LGBTQIA+ community during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to my academic and clinical training, I am certified as a Pilates instructor through the Pilates Method Alliance and as a personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. These certifications complement the inextricable work of caring for both the mind and body amidst alleviating psychological distress, symptoms of trauma, and navigating anxiety and depression.
I am open to working with children (ages 5+), adults of all ages, couples, and families. My therapeutic approach is integrative, utilizing a range of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, mindfulness meditation, somatic psychotherapy, trauma-informed yoga, and LGBTQIA+ affirming counseling. Through these approaches, we can collaborate on a plan that helps you reach your goals, manage stress, and improve emotional well-being.
Outside of my clinical work, my self-care practices include partaking in yoga, Pilates, open-water swimming, and marathon running. I am partnered and co-parent two rambunctious kitties. I am passionate about supporting local queer art, including drag and visual arts, and love traveling and attending concerts. Therapy is an incredibly rewarding but vulnerable way of engaging in self-care, and I would be honored to share the experience with you.
