My passion for Mental Health developed during my early teenage years. I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, with a dual major in Psychology and Sociology with a Law, Justice, and Social Change sub-focus. I recently graduated from Loyola University Chicago's School of Social Work with a concentration in Advanced Clinical Practice. During my Masters program I interned with the Women’s Integrated Treatment Program at Haymarket Center, a residential program that provides substance abuse, mental health, and trauma support services for female-identifying clients from across the Chicagoland area.
Much of my work focused on developing coping skills and building self-esteem in individual and group sessions. I gained experience working with school aged children and adolescents at the Chicago Waldorf School, working primarily with middle and high school students presenting with anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties to develop social-emotional learning (SEL) based competencies. In addition to holding a safe, respectful, judgment-free environment, I am committed to empowering my clients to make the changes they want to see in their lives through self-awareness, self-management, and responsible decision-making, among other areas. As a social worker, I was trained in a multi-systems ecological approach in which a person’s psychological experiences are intertwined with social, cultural, political, and environmental contexts.
Utilizing a strengths perspective, I seek to assist my clients in identifying internal and external factors that promote resilience in the face of vulnerability. I operate within a developmental framework, understanding where a person is physically, emotionally, cognitively, morally, and socially. Therefore, I believe in the importance of trauma-informed practice, for our past experiences can shape our present realities. My preferred treatment modalities are CBT, DBT, ACT and Motivational Interviewing. I strive to care for my well-being in all aspects of life. Outside work, I enjoy exercise (especially running), preparing home-cooked meals, reading, and spending time with my support network.
