Acknowledging and embracing the personal need for therapy can be an intimidating and overwhelming experience. My overarching objective as your therapist is to create a secure, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment within our sessions. This is necessary for recognizing and effectively navigating through the various aspects of your life that may be negatively impacting your emotions, behaviors, and overall well-being. Our collaboration will be founded in teamwork and the therapy you receive will be individually tailored to meet your unique needs and goals. My academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. This has given me a solid foundation for delivering culturally relevant therapy and instilled within me a strong commitment to assisting individuals facing systemic barriers in addition to severe mental health challenges. During my training, I worked with high-risk populations, specifically individuals who have encountered complex trauma and a wide array of mental health diagnoses. This has thoroughly equipped me with the necessary tools and skills to offer therapy to individuals across the entire spectrum of severity, spanning from mild to severe experiences and symptoms. To ensure the best fit for my clients, I practice from a client-centered perspective while incorporating elements of the psychodynamic framework. This will look different for each client and may even look differently for you from week to week, depending on what you bring to sessions and how you want to navigate your healing journey. I take pride in my ability to adjust myself accordingly to best fit your desired pathway for healing while remaining attentive, empathic, inviting, respectful, and curious. My passion lies in assisting individuals by uncovering the unconscious and examining the underlying motivations and conflicts that may be driving these unwanted behaviors and emotions. This may include delving into attachment styles, past and present relationships, and patterns in your life, all while you are feeling heard and most importantly, supported. My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, autism spectrum disorder, personality disorders, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), LGBTQIA+ care, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), race and cultural identity, sexual disorders, and trauma. I aspire to develop a rapport with and get to know my clients at a pace that suits them best, fostering a warm and reassuring connection between us.
