Jessica Selk, LPC

Throughout my life, I have always had a passion for supporting and bringing communities together. I began my career in public health at Illinois State University and following graduation in 2015, provided services through AmeriCorps in Denver, Colorado, where I taught reproductive health in the school system and assisted patients in the clinic. This was when I realized that students were more curious and in need of education on healthy relationships and self-empowerment. Soon after my contract was over, I obtained my 200-hour yoga teacher certificate and pursued my masters in clinical mental health counseling at Adler University in Chicago.

During graduate school I became a National Certified Counselor and interned at a partial hospitalization program at a community mental health center. I worked with adults ranging from age 18 through 80. Here I gained experience with those who struggled with mood disorders, psychosis, suicide, relationship issues, career, LGBTQIA+, and other symptoms related to stress and life transitions. I remained on the team for about three years until I decided to expand my skills as a therapist and enter the outpatient therapy world.

In my therapy practice I have an eclectic approach and draw from CBT, DBT, and ACT with a holistic focus. I find it important to consider an individual’s background, beliefs, and the identities they hold to best walk with them through their healing journey. My specialties include adult anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, LGBTQIA+, and relationship issues. I believe in holding a safe, respectful, and judgment-free environment for all. When I am not at work I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and finding new coffee spots.
