It is my belief that to initiate the start of one’s journey in therapy takes courage, and shows the resilience and strength that has been required to weather life’s difficulties. It is my commitment to honor this journey, and to create a space that respects every piece that has brought a person to the present moment, whether that be lived experiences, cultural identities or psychological challenges.
I received my masters degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Counseling Psychology, and was recognized as a distinguished graduate upon completion. I spent a year providing mental health services at Anixter Center, which included work with a variety of individuals and therapy groups. My background in community mental health gave me the opportunity to adapt my therapeutic style to align with differing psychological presentations within a high level care environment. This environment provided members with support, hope and resources. I have a background as a dance teacher as well, having taught kids from age four through eighteen, and having carried out choreographic processes with adults aged 19-35.
I primarily work from a therapeutic orientation that encompasses person centered therapy and motivational interviewing. I find that the combination of these approaches creates a therapy space that is respectful, attuned, and meets each person where they are at in a way that facilitates the change or growth they seek. I also incorporate other modalities via an eclectic approach, including narrative therapy, CBT, DBT, IFS and somatic based interventions. I specialize in supporting people as they work through anxiety, depression, trauma, stress/worry, grief, and other psychological struggles such as schizophrenia and mood disorders. I value the client’s expertise on their life, and what they hope to get out of therapy; I find that basing the use of different interventions on this positively impacts progress. It is my intention to be a source of support in your journey towards stability, clarity and fulfillment.
