My focus is to help clients find relief from troubling symptoms, enhance overall understanding, and strengthen coping methods with the aim of improving overall functioning and simply feeling better.
I have a broad range of experience across 20 years and have worked with adults of all ages and stages in life, challenged by stress, depression, anxiety, parenting and relationship issues, loss, developmental disabilities, as well as psychosis.
Being grounded in client-centered therapy, I collaborate with clients and aim to listen reflectively, as well as help examine and explore the thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and physiological symptoms that can get triggered, using primarily cognitive behavioral therapy, CBT, techniques as well as acceptance and commitment therapy, ACT, techniques, and mindfulness. I also provide psychoeducation as well as information on any pertinent research findings in order to help empower clients.
I have worked in various settings around Chicago, including providing home health to parents/families of kids in the Early Intervention Program, working with homeless moms and kids in homeless shelters, working with severely mentally ill individuals in impoverished nursing home settings, working in outpatient clinics and on an inpatient unit, as well as training in working with dually diagnosed individuals in a partial hospitalization program as well as in a community outreach program.
