On the journey of life, we all walk our own paths yet we experience similar obstacles. From climbing and conquering mountains to crossing canyons not yet traveled, we all encounter these obstacles. At times, we all struggle with finding the right tools to respond to and overcome them. I am here to help you acquire and develop those tools, to turn these obstacles into stepping-stones.
I believe the most important skill someone can learn is empowerment. Empowerment allows us to set and achieve our personal goals in a way that aligns with our personal values and one’s individual journeys. My approach is not to be the expert in my client’s life, but instead to use my expertise to assist them in becoming the expert in their own lives. I utilize a blended approach of therapeutic behavior models tailored to each individual in order to best assist my clients in accomplishing their unique goals.
With this individualized approach to therapy, I am able to respond to the needs of a diverse clientele. I have worked with clients from all walks of life; from a wide variety of socioeconomic statuses, sexual orientations, gender expressions, religious affiliations, cultural backgrounds, and history of trauma. I have experience working with individuals at all stages of their unique therapeutic journey: from those who were uncertain but hopeful to those who believe that they have nothing left to learn. I completed my clinical mental health counseling training at Roosevelt University.
My specialties include working with a wide age range of adults dually diagnosed with mental illness and intellectual disabilities or co-morbidity of substance abuse and mental illness. In addition, I have worked with clients diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, ADHD, PTSD, and Schizophrenia.
