What is DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured, evidence-based form of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and develop coping skills for distressing situations. Originally developed for individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD), DBT has since been proven effective for treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other mood-related disorders.

Topics Covered in DBT Group Therapy:

  • Mindfulness: Staying present and aware in the moment.
  • Emotional Regulation – Managing overwhelming emotions effectively.
  • Distress Tolerance – Building resilience to navigate crises and distress.
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness – Strengthening communication and relationship skills.

DBT is typically offered in individual therapy, group skills training, or a combination of both, providing a structured approach to long-term emotional well-being.
